Details: Residential courses involve 2 or 3 days of intensive rehearsals, with expert professional tutors, followed by a series of up to 5 public concerts in venues all over North Yorkshire. VaCO runs residential courses during vacations (usually during the summer and at Christmas). About 2/3 of the members are students at conservatoire or university, the other 1/3 are advanced 16-18 year olds.

Details: Usually performs from 4 - 6 concerts each year in Ripon Cathedral and other venues. Rehearsals take place only on the Sunday and Friday immediately before the Saturday concerts. Ideal for students aiming for a career in music. Standard: Grade 8+.
One of the best "non-professional" orchestras in the country - consisting of professionals, teachers, amateurs, students and senior schoolchildren. Conducted by Xenophon Kelsey, MBE. The orchestra performs a wide range of music, often with internationally renowned soloists.

Details: At SCYO we take music seriously but have a lot of fun on the way! Players are led by an outstanding professional conductor -Jeremy Carnall - who is the Music Director of Dorset Opera and also a guest conductor at the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. We focus our repertoire on the great orchestral masterpieces and seek to introduce exciting programs for our players and audiences. We are currently recruiting talented young string players to match our complete wind section. This term our repertoire is a program of English Miniatures with works by Elgar, Holst, Vaughan Williams and Gordon Jacob. We meet every Monday at Queen Mary's School, Topcliffe from 6.30pm until 8.15pm. Termly fees are £50. We will be establishing a bus service to help players with transport from Harrogate and Ripon. Details: The best way to enjoy all six concerts is to join the Cathedral Concert Society as a Member at a cost of £70 (£60 for Friends of other North Yorkshire Festivals or if you are part of a recognised chorus or orchestra and £120 for joint membership). This is great value, giving free access to all six of the Society’s high quality and varied concerts. If, however, you wish to support the Society, but are unsure how many concerts you can attend, consider joining as a Friend at a cost of £40 per year as this entitles you to reduced price tickets costing just £10 for each of our 6 concerts.
Individual tickets costing £15 (£5 for students and free for under 18s) to all concerts are available from our web site www.riponconcerts.co.uk, the Little Ripon Bookshop (tel 01765 606689), Harrogate Theatre either on line at www.harrogatetheatre.co.uk from their box office (01423 502116). Tickets will also be available at the door on the evening of the concert
The Society supports the Ripon Young Musician of the Year competition by offering free tickets to prize winners and their parents.
We encourage schools to bring groups of young people, particularly those studying music, to come to concerts free of charge.
The Society has also arranged for visiting groups to hold music workshops in schools, an activity which it would like to expand.
The Cathedral Concert Society holds 6 concerts though the winter months, generally on Monday evenings in the quire of Ripon Cathedral, enabling people to hear live recitals and chamber music performed by leading regional, national and international artists.

Details: We sing a variety of choral music, from early to contemporary. We have performed in a variety of North Yorkshire venues, both large and small - from small churches to the magnificent Ripon Cathedral. We meet weekly on Saturday afternoons in Harrogate and perform in approximately 4 concerts a year. If you love singing, come and give us a try.
Halcyon Youth Choir is a mixed choir for secondary school age singers, which launched in September 2015. We aim to create a high quality musical experience for singers and audience.

Details: Entrance to the scheme is by audition. This is a relaxed and informal process designed to show not only what you can already do, but to reveal your potential.
YYM provides advanced training for exceptionally talented young musicians from Yorkshire and Humber. Whatever your musical strengths, you will have the opportunity to study with some of the best instrumental tutors in the country, work and perform with like-minded young musicians, receive training in general musicianship and small ensembles and experience many different performance opportunities.

Ripon Cathedral Choir has places for girls and boys in school years 3 to 8. The boys and girls usually sing separately with the adult singers, the girls on Wednesday and Friday, and the boys on Tuesday and Thursday. The boys and girls sing alternately on Sundays so that each group has every second weekend free. In addition to services the choir undertake concerts, tours, broadcasts and recordings.
